Our Last Night in the Big Apple :)

Had a big last day in the City. Did two plays, Spring Awakening and Hairspray. What a day! Looking forward to seeing everyone but am very sad to leave. There is so much here to see and do, I want to come back, already!

Habu yarn from Soho!

This is some of the prettiest yarn. I really like the way it looks. I got some from Purl in Soho and some in Greenwich at the Point. I love reading the comments, especially the ones from friends and family.

A Day in Soho

We went back to Soho for the day. Had lunch in Little Italy. Visited Memet, our favorite jeweler in Soho at TeNo. Went to the Purl knitting boutique. Rushed back uptown and am now getting ready for the play, Wicked. Everyone says it is the best. More tonight.

Finished the front and started the back

Finally, the knitting shops

Well, we finally began to hit the yarn shops. The first was the Yarn Connection off of Madison Avenue (see photo). Yarn was stored from the floor to the ceiling. She got two skeins of taupe Jaeger for the 'mystery stole.' Diane is getting ready for dinner and asked me to post (again). She also changed her mind on where she wants to live; now she wants to be on 3rd Ave instead of 5th Ave. We will see.

A Busy Busy Day

On Top of the World

From 70 stories up, we had a great view of the city from the new observation deck at '30 Rock' (Rockefeller Center). Diane is knitting now and she asked me to post this on her blog. Yes, Cassidy, I am working out with her every morning. And you didn't think I would? lol. Saw lots of neat stuff. Scored some more great theater tickets. Went to mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. And walked all over the city tonight. More tomorrow.

Tony Award Winner

David Hyde Pierce won a Tony (best actor) for Curtains and we saw why tonight. It was just excellent with a rousing 'standing ovation' at the end. It was possibly the best play we have seen. Did tons of walking today, weather was great, picked out an apartment on 5th Avenue that I want Michael to buy me, visited the Apple flagship store, Central Park stroll, etc, etc. More tomorrow.

Last week was a special week!

It has been a busy week with very little knitting but a lot of celebrating. My son William celebrated his 16th birthday this past Thursday. He had a cake made in the shape of a New York Yankees baseball. One of his favorite gifts was an electric guitar.

After many years of religious education, William was confirmed this past Saturday. His Confirmation was so special, his Aunts and Uncles were in town to be a part of the event. I got a wonderful picture of William and the Archbishop. William was truly beaming and quite proud.

After William was confirmed, we enjoyed a special dinner at Del Friscos where he ended the meal with a wonderful chocolate mousse.

A felted birdhouse before, after and the final product!

It is always amazing to see the final product of something that is felted. It went from something very boring to a cute little birdhouse. I did some needle felting to add to the final touchs. My husband Michael helped out with the cutting and crafting of the birdhouse.

My rainbown ankle socks are finished

What a great pair of socks these are and I only used a little over a skein of Koigu from my stash. It took me almost 2 weeks but I tend to drag out some of my knitting projects these days.

Charlolett's Web the final product

Michael took a picture of me trying on Charlolett's Web and it is a great size. I am pleased to say that the lace pattern when held up is quite beautiful. I am hooked on knitting lace but I am not thrilled with the blocking process. I will leave it at String with Cassidy for a while so if people are interested in knitting it they can see how it will turn out.

Charlolett's Web is being blocked!

Well I spent 2 hours this morning blocking my shawl with my new blocking wires. It was much harder than I had anticipated and will pass for awhile with the blocking. I will post my picture of the finished product soon. One good thing comes of this. A project finished.

Congratulations to my son William!

I have not posted any knitting updates lately but I had to post a picture of my son William after his induction this evening into the National Honor Society. It was a nice ceremony. I am so proud of him he has worked very hard at school and really deserves this. Again William congratulations!!!!!!!!!

The Hedgehogs are Finished!!!

Leslie and Tammy came in on Saturday to bring their hedgehogs to life with their eyes and a nose. So along with my Easter hedgehog, James Brown, and my previous Halloween hedgehog, Henderson, the Four Amigos have come to life!!!

Charlotte's Web Update

Moving right along on this project. Am on row 88 and at 179 stitches already. Four more pages of the workbook I received from Kim to finish. Wow, how that workbook has been a lifesaver. Thanks again, Kim (if you're visiting my blog) for sending the workbook.

A Moebius Easter Basket

Cassidy and I started knitting a moebius Easter basket today from our yarn stash. Definitely this is a more 'doable' project than our Debbie Bliss circular sweater. Stay tuned for a finished post of our felted Easter baskets.

Today is Maisy's Birthday

It is a very special day; it is Maisy's 7th birthday.

Worked out in the morning, had a doctor's appt, got my hair cut, checked out the new yarn store called Lamb Shop down on 12th and Madison in Denver (it was a pretty shop but the yarn was stored up too high so I couldn't reach it) so I just walked around and yes, I bought nothing, went to Cassidy's knitting shop after picking up William from school (didn't do any knitting but just chatted with Cassidy and Judy Banana).

It was good to see Cassidy and I missed being there today longer. Cassidy showed me the Pottery Barn kids website and it seems to be that yellow is a go for the baby's room, that's exciting!!!

Happy Birthday to my big girl!!! Today, I casted on the start of my new Easter Hedgehog who Cassidy named Henrietta to keep Henderson company at the knitting shop. The colors for Henrietta are a pink and Easter pastel color hair. Bye for now, have to go watch 'Ugly Betty'. It's a GREAT show!!!

Projects, yarn, family, friends and pets

And so it begins ... If a picture is worth a thousand words, then I will try to add about a million words (in pictures) if there is enough space on my site. I hope you enjoy browsing the pics as much as I enjoyed selecting and posting them. The photos are located at the bottom of the page... so scroll down.

Up and running

After months of thinking about a knitting blog (and with the help of my uniquely computer literate son, William) KNITABULLS is now up and running (sort of). I must still add a lot of content, but I thought I would start with a few photos to add some color to the front page.
